The Estate
The Clos du Notaire is a flagship estate of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, located in Bourg-sur-Gironde, overlooking the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. Founded in the 19th century by a notary from Charente, the estate was taken over in 1974 by Roland and Sylvette Charbonnier, who developed it until its sale in 2015. The new owners, Amélie Osmond and Victor Mischler, fell in love with the property. Captivated by the beauty of the site, the quality of the clay-limestone terroir, and the modern facilities, they chose to settle there as young farmers.
Since their arrival, Amélie and Victor have been committed to producing wines that faithfully reflect their terroir, while embracing environmentally respectful practices. The estate, in conversion to organic farming since 2018, focuses on sustainable viticulture, free of insecticides and synthetic fertilizers. The 21 hectares of vines, primarily planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, benefit from a unique microclimate due to the nearby estuary. Their wines, including NOTARIS and the Clos du Notaire cuvée, can rival some of the region’s finest Grands Crus!
The Wine
Created especially for the 2021 vintage, the cuvée RESILIENTS embodies Amélie and Victor’s determination to craft a great wine despite a particularly challenging year in Bordeaux. The label, illustrated by comic book artist and writer Éric Corbeyran, stands out boldly from the rest of the range, reflecting both the adversity faced and the creativity that emerged from it.
